This month, we had the opportunity to visit our CCH ohana on Hawai‘i Island, where we were able to connect with our dedicated staff at both the Kona and Hilo offices. We also had the privilege of meeting with community leaders at a warm welcome reception held at the Hilo Hawaiian Hotel. It was an incredibly humbling experience, and we wanted to take the time to express our gratitude to our neighbor island partners for their unwavering support in helping us fulfill our mission of serving those most in need.
During our visit, we were reminded of the wide range of services offered at both of our Hawai‘i Island locations.
At our Kona office, the team works tirelessly to provide Voluntary Case Management, ensuring families have the support they need by identifying strengths, providing support and referrals to decrease risk factors in the home; which also helps them to navigate life’s challenges. They also offer Comprehensive Counseling and Support Services, providing a to assist families in providing a safe home for their children.
For victims of crime, the Crime Counseling program helps heal emotional wounds, and the Statewide Resource Families program plays a crucial role in offering support for children in need of care. Additionally, the Kona office offers Trauma focused therapy for the keiki, helping children express and process their emotions in a safe and supportive environment.
Meanwhile, at the Hilo office, the focus is on supporting families through more intensive programs. The Transitional Family Homes program provides a safe, nurturing treatment environment where youth receive individualized, family-based care in a structured and supportive home setting. The team also offers Intensive In-Home Therapy, working with families directly in their homes to create lasting change, as well as Counseling Services to the community, including victims of abuse and crime. Additionally, the Statewide Resource Families program operates in Hilo as well, continuing its vital role in providing safe and supportive environments for children.
Other services in Hilo include the Housing Support Program and the State Homeless Emergency Grants Program. Both programs help families and individuals secure permanent housing or prevent homelessness by providing rental assistance to promote housing stabilization. Case management services are also provided to promote tenancy skills and financial well-being, as well as General Immigration Services, which provide crucial assistance to individuals navigating immigration processes.
As we toured these offices and connected with the people behind these services, it became clear just how much these teams are doing to make a difference in the lives of individuals and families across Hawai‘i Island. We are incredibly grateful for their hard work and for the partners who help us continue this important work. Together, we are building stronger communities, one ohana at a time.
