Shannon Alivado is the Director of Government Relations at Hawaiian Electric Company. She leads the company’s legislative efforts and works closely with their Government and Community Affairs division which oversees various community efforts that joins legislative, non-profit and community leaders on common initiatives. Previously Shannon worked in the construction industry for a trade group representing the interests of general contractors before the state and county government. It was through her experience there that she learned to appreciate the innerworkings of government and private industry.
Shannon is a graduate from the William S. Richardson School of law and received her undergraduate degree from Oregon State University in Political Science and Philosophy. In her free time Shannon enjoys time with her family, including three children, and farming on their family farm. Shannon currently serves on the Honolulu Police Commission and stays active in her community of Waimanalo by serving on the Board of the Waimanalo Health Center and the Waimanalo Agricultural Association. She also is a firm believer in early education and serves on the board of Seagull Schools.
