As Hawai‘i’s aging population grows, it’s important that seniors be able to maintain their health and independent living as best as possible by staying physically and mentally active.
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i’s senior programs are meant to assist our kūpuna in several ways: improve health and wellness; reduce isolation through activities that encourage socialization with their peers; and provide educational instruction to improve senior safety and security.
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i provides a wide range of senior services that are designed to provide in-home and community-based services, such as transportation assistance, friendly home visiting and escort services, counseling on affordable housing options, case management for elders and caregivers and volunteer opportunities.
Provides persons living with dementia and their caregivers effective programs and resources to help them remain independent and safe in their communities.
The Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center (LMPSC) provides recreation, continuing education, health promotion, social services, and volunteer opportunities for seniors.
Helps older adults apply for income-eligible benefits they may be eligible for, to ensure they have access to the resources they need to maintain their health and independence.
Services include professional counseling for psychological and social problems, assessment of needs, bereavement counseling, service coordination, and advocacy.
We provide seniors, ages 60 and older, with counseling on affordable housing options, and also provide affordable shared housing for seniors (62 years and older).
Transportation Friends for Kupuna (TFK) has volunteers who provide free transportation and/or escort assistance to seniors 60 years and older who live independently and need door-through-door assistance on Oahu.
The Phone-A-Friend project provides regularly scheduled calls for seniors who live alone or are socially isolated and have little or no contact with people outside their home.
