Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, Kaneohe TARGET Store in Windward Mall and various first responders bring joy to keiki this holiday season
Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, Kaneohe TARGET Store in Windward Mall, Honolulu Police Department and other first responders held its “Heroes and Helpers” event on Oahu to bring joy to 40 area keiki.
This special event brings much needed joy to teens and young children during the holidays, while fostering positive relationships between the youth and law enforcement officers and other first responders. Each youth was provided a $100 Target gift card for their Christmas shopping. The children were partnered with members of the Honolulu Police Department, Honolulu Fire Department, State Department of Law Enforcement – Sheriff Division, Honolulu Emergency Services Department, Hawai‘i National Guard, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Marine Corps Base Hawai‘i.
After their shopping trip, the children’s selected items were gift-wrapped by community members. The children also received a complimentary breakfast.
Sponsors of today’s event include Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, King Windward Nissan, REIS Pediatrics, Title Guaranty, McDonald’s, American Savings Bank and Starbucks.
This is the first Heroes and Helpers event co-sponsored by Catholic Charities Hawaii on Oahu. CCH has co-sponsored similar “Heroes and Helpers” events on the neighbor islands of Hawai‘i Island and Maui.
