Kim Burgo, vice president of National Disaster Operations for CCH’s network partner organization Catholic Charities USA (CCUSA), visited the islands regularly over the past year to provide assistance and guidance on our disaster recovery efforts.
With over 40 years of experience managing relief operations, Burgo held a presentation earlier this month to community leaders and local stakeholders on long-term disaster recovery planning. Sharing her insights about her experiences with the Maui wildfires and other disasters across the nation, Burgo discussed Maui recovery efforts that could realistically last up to 3-5 years.
“We are grateful to Kim for sharing her insights and experience on disaster relief with us over this past difficult year,” said CCH CEO and president Rob Van Tassell. “With the support of CCUSA, Catholic Charities Hawai‘ continues to work with the Maui community through the processes of recovery.”
