Kāhala Nui Residents Donate Nearly $50,000 to Catholic Charities Hawai‘i to Benefit Seniors
HONOLULU (May 5, 2020) – Catholic Charities Hawai‘i (CCH) recently received a donation of $46,290 from residents of the Kāhala Nui life plan community.
The Kāhala Nui donation was made through Aloha United Way (AUW) to provide support to community partners during this COVID-19 pandemic, with CCH’s portion going to its Housing Assistance Program for Seniors. The donation was funded through Kāhala Nui’s Social Accountability Program and contributions from the community’s residents raised during an emergency fundraising campaign.
A total donation of $253,540 was distributed among Kāhala Nui’s six community partner organizations that included Catholic Charities Hawai‘i and other charitable organizations that serve seniors.
“We are grateful for this generous gift from Kāhala Nui as well as for our long-standing relationship with them,” said Catholic Charities Hawai‘i CEO and President Robert Van Tassell. “This donation will aid our kupuna during a time when they are most vulnerable.”
