Festive Cheer at the Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center Christmas Party
This year’s Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center Christmas Party brought together over 350 kupuna from across the island. Held at the Ala Moana Hotel, this long-standing festive tradition is the highlight of the year for many of our kupuna. The celebration featured performances from 15 clubs and groups, showcasing a wide range of talents, from traditional ethnic dances to tap dancing.
Catholic Charities Hawaii has been operating the Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center since 1981. Today, the center offers over 30 clubs and groups, serving more than 2,000 kupuna in our community. The center plays a crucial role in keeping Hawaii’s elders connected, cared for, and empowered. Learn more about the Senior Center here.
We would also like to send a big Mahalo to the state and city officials who took the time to engage with our kupuna, sharing lunch and conversation. They included Governor Josh Green, Lt. Governor Sylvia Luke, Senator Karl Rhoads, Senator Carol Fukunaga, Representative Jenna Takenouchi, and Councilmember Tyler Dos Santos-Tam.
