Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, in collaboration with the Kona Walmart Store and various first responders, recently hosted its annual “Shop with a Cop” event. This heartwarming tradition aimed to spread holiday joy and support the local community, particularly children in need.
During this special event, children were paired with members of law enforcement agencies such as the Hawaii Police Department, Hawaii Department of Public Safety Deputy Sheriffs, DLNR, National Park Service, and other dedicated agencies. Each child received a $100 Walmart gift card, generously provided by Catholic Charities Hawai‘i, to kickstart their Christmas shopping. Additionally, Kids Matter contributed extra gift cards to make the holiday season even brighter for the keiki. As part of the festive spirit, McDonald’s, located within Walmart, joined in by donating breakfast for each child.
