A message from our President & CEO Rob Van Tassell regarding Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Dear Friends,
The Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has affected life as we know it and its impact has reached our local shores. The work that we do today at Catholic Charities Hawaii is needed more than ever. The families and individuals that we serve, including older adults, are vulnerable to this constantly evolving global outbreak.
The health and safety of our community and the CCH ohana of clients, staff and volunteers is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the situation and are following local and federal health guidelines. Throughout our locations we are practicing preventive measures to maintain a safe and healthy environment.
We are making every effort to adapt and develop strategies to best carry out our services as changes occur. Our staff is working statewide to ensure all clients impacted by program adjustments or closures continue to have the support they need.
Program Updates:
For the safety of our seniors, the Lanakila Multi-Purpose Senior Center will be closed starting on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until further notice.
AARP’s free tax preparation services for all three CCH locations (Ching Campus in Makiki, Lanakila Multi-Purpose Center in Kalihi and Kona office) have been suspended until further notice by AARP.
The Healthy Brain Aging and Dementia workshop has been canceled.
Effective Thursday, March 19th, we will not have walk in clients at any of our offices statewide. Clients will be able to make an appointment in advance (via email or phone) to meet with CCH staff.
*We will provide updates on our website as they occur.
Thank you for your support of our mission. We pray that your families are healthy and safe. Together we are a community of hope, providing services with dignity, compassion and social justice to those in need during these difficult times.
With aloha,
Rob Van Tassell
President & CEO
