General Immigration and Employment Core Services

Assistance is given to newly arrived and economically disadvantaged immigrants by offering employment preparation and placement, English language classes, and immigration services. Counseling on immigrant issues is provided by an accredited Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA) counselor.

Quality Living Choices

Quality Living Choices

Quality Living Choices (QLC) provides an alternative for adults (18+ years) in need of long-term care. The program provides foster family and residential nursing care for persons who would otherwise be placed in an intermediate care facility or skilled nursing facility. Clients are assessed and matched to an appropriate foster home. The primary care provider in these homes is a certified nurse’s aide, LPN, or RN. QLC helps disabled adults continue to live full, independent lives in their community.

Kawaihae Transitional Housing Program

Kawaihae Transitional Housing Program

Kawaihae Transitional Housing Program is a 24-unit facility near Kawaihae that provides transitional housing services to families with children who are homeless. The transitional housing program offers:

  • Maximum 24-month participation
  • Employment training and placement
  • Life skills classes and budget counseling
  • Case management and housing counseling

Nā 'Ohana Pūlama

Nā 'Ohana Pūlama

Nā 'Ohana Pūlama (NOP), "families of light and nourishment," provides non-institutional therapeutic foster care through community-based foster homes and group homes. Trained staff and foster parents use the Teaching-Family Association model to provide support and teach skills to emotionally and behaviorally challenged youth, ages 5-19. Nā ‘Ohana Pūlama is offered island-wide with program offices in Hilo and Kona.

Interstate Compact Services On The Placement Of Children (ICPC)

 

Monitors and ensures safe and stable placement of children in foster or adoptive care across state lines. ICPC also provides home study and case management services for children who are being reunified with biological parents or who are being considered for foster care, adoption, or placement with relatives.

Statewide Resource Families (SRF)

 

Provides an integrated and community-based approach to identify, assess, train, and license Child-Specific foster/resource families. SRF also offers recruitment and training services in the PRIDE (Parent Resources for Information, Development, and Education) curriculum for current foster families.

The Statewide Resource Families program is a partner with Hui Ho‘omalu Partners in Development Foundation.

Financial Advocacy Services for Seniors

Financial Advocacy Services for Seniors provides money management assistance for persons age 55 and over who are competent to make financial decisions but have difficulty managing their finances.
