Helping to kick-start its “10 in ‘10” initiative to raise the remaining $10 million in its aggressive $28-million capital campaign in 2010, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i has received a $25,000 donation from Island Insurance Company, Ltd. The donation will help fund the acquisition and renovation of the new Catholic Charities Hawai‘i Clarence T. C. Ching Campus in Makiki.
“The generosity of Island Insurance has provided a spark plug for the final legs of the campaign,” said Catholic Charities Hawai‘i President and CEO Jerry Rauckhorst. “We are truly grateful for this significant donation, which will ultimately benefit the entire community.”
Nearing completion, Catholic Charities Hawai‘i’s new campus provides an integrated, permanent home for the organization. Once completed, it will house a Program Center, commercial kitchen, 5,000-square-foot multi-purpose community hall, meeting rooms, interview rooms, classrooms, office space, and a 12-unit apartment building for transitional housing programs.
“Catholic Charities has a long history of providing leadership for innovative social service programs across Hawaii,’” added John Schapperle, Island Insurance President & COO and Catholic Charities Hawai‘i board member. “The completion of its new campus will enable Catholic Charities to extend its outreach and help many more individuals lead healthy, productive lives.”
